In April, an investigative judge in a Parisian court issued an international arrest warrant against the former car industry tycoon, Carlos Ghosn, who resides in Lebanon, as part of an investigation into contracts concluded by a company affiliated with the Renault-Nissan alliance, according to a source close to the file.

Ghosn is targeted by an international arrest warrant issued in April 2022 by an investigative judge in Nanterre, near Paris, as part of investigations that include, in particular, misuse of company assets and money laundering within an organized gang linked to Omani businessman Suhail Bahwan, founder of the Suhail Bahwan Motors Company.

Leon Del Forno and Martin Renault stressed, in a statement to “Agence France Presse”, that “Ghosn cannot leave Lebanon. The Lebanese authorities prevent him from leaving the country’s territory due to Japanese prosecutions. Therefore, he cannot meet summons to appear in the hearings to indict him in France.” .

The two lawyers continued, “Therefore, this arrest warrant is just an attempt by the judges to continue their investigations, nothing more, nothing less.”

The Parisian investigative judge issued this arrest warrant in April after Ghosn refused to appear in response to his summons to file an indictment against him on May 19, 2022, in connection with financial corruption.

This international arrest warrant may be the final chapter of a judicial investigation that opened on July 10, 2019, to look specifically at suspicions of corruption and bribery of an agent of a public international organization, and the abuse of influence and misuse of company assets.
