The big game hunting period is open in Wallonia from October 1, 2023, until December 31.
Since in Wallonia, the hunting zones concern 542,000 ha of forest and 700,000 ha of plains, the Walloon Region has launched the new website ChasseOnWeb to inform the public of the perimeters of hunting territories and hunting activities (with or without road closures).

“It is the result of collaboration between numerous partners: SPW (Nature and Forests Department and Department of Study of the Natural and Agricultural Environment), hunting councils, Royal St Hubert Club, hunters, Cynégéweb…”, specifies the SPW.
The areas listed (in red) on the map are for big game hunting. “Because small game shooting is done with shot and with a range of only 60 to 70 meters,” notes Benoît Petit, president of the Royal Saint Hubert Club of Belgium.
Forests closed this weekend
Many hunts are organized this weekend on Saturday October 14 and Sunday October 15. Several forests will be closed this Saturday such as in the region of Neufchâteau, Bastogne and Paliseul in the province of Luxembourg but also Philippeville and Viroinval (see map) for the province of Namur.
Be careful, however, a red zone does not necessarily mean that the area is closed and prohibited. Click on the areas to check whether or not the hunted territory is open. This Sunday, October 15, the forests in the Neufchâteau region will also be strongly impacted by closures. Traffic bans are also to be reported in the Marche-en-Famenne region.

The site will never replace a warning on the ground. The yellow and red posters posted at the entrance to a public road announcing a hunting action therefore still remain relevant.
