China understands Iran’s attack on Israel as an act of self-defense after their consulate building in Damascus was bombed by Zionist troops. However, China also asked Iran to refrain from taking further action.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, today (Tuesday, 16/4) contacted Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. According to Xinhua, Chinese news agency, from the talks Iran reiterated it was willing to exercise restraint after its first attack on Israeli territory.

Israel previously vowed to respond to Iran’s missile and drone attacks over the weekend, which have prompted calls for de-escalation by world leaders fearing a wider conflict.

According to the Beijing news agency XinhuaIran’s foreign minister has briefed Wang Yi on Tehran’s position on the April 1 attack on the consular building of the Iranian embassy in the Syrian capital, Damascus, which Iran said prompted its airstrikes on Israel.
