In shoe repair, you can save up to 25 euros for resoling leather shoes. On the textile side, the savings are around 7 euros to repair a tear or a tear.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY – A lining that is falling apart, a pair of pants that need to be mended… If your closets need updating, the government encourages you to have your clothes mended rather than buying new.

This is the objective of the “repair bonus” which was launched on Tuesday November 7, to encourage consumers to have their clothes and shoes repaired. Announced in July 2023 by Bérangère Couillard, then Secretary of State for Ecology, the system (endowed with 154 million by 2028) will entitle you to aid of between 6 and 25 euros per repair.

The bonus takes the form of discounts applied directly to the invoice. All clothing is eligible except for underwear and lingerie, leather clothing and real fur clothing.

25 euros for insoles, 14 euros for a zip

In shoe repair, you can save up to 25 euros for resoling leather shoes, 7 euros for a heel cap, and up to 14 euros for repairing a zip. On the textile side, the savings are of the order of 7 euros to repair a tear or a tear, up to 8 euros for an undone seam, or even 10 euros for retouching a simple lining. Bonuses can be combined on the same product to be repaired, up to 60% of the price of the repair.

To benefit from it, no special steps are necessary, but you will need to go to a tailor or shoemaker participating in the program. These have been labeled by the eco-organization Refashion, which has mapped them on its site; this is currently under construction. For the moment, the label only displays a few hundred addresses (600 selon Refashion) for the most part located in large cities (Lyon, Paris, Marseille, Angers, etc.) but it is possible to suggest to Refashion the address of its preferred repairer via a form.

Inspired by the repair bonus in household appliances, the aid aims to encourage the circular economy in the textile sector, one of the most polluting for the planet. The French indeed throw “ 700,000 tonnes of clothing each year »two-thirds of which “end up in landfills” Bérangère Couillard recalled when the bonus was announced.
