Conner Rousseau: Dismissed Sexual Offense Cases and Ongoing Investigations – Latest Updates and Insights

At the beginning of September, the complaint for sexual offenses filed by the East Flanders public prosecutor’s office against Rousseau was dismissed. It concerned a young woman in her twenties who was allegedly the victim of sexual offences. Previously, two other cases against the socialist had been dismissed because the investigation had not revealed any criminal offenses.

“The first two cases were declarations and not complaints, which were also completely devoid of air,” specifies Mr. Rousseau. “In the third case, it was indeed a matter of complaints. It was about a person I had a history with. I was shocked when this complaint was filed, but it quickly turned out that I was right. The court looked at thousands of posts and nothing came of it.”

According to the president, the three people involved were each time encouraged by two journalists to go to court. “This is a witch hunt in which certain boundaries of decency have been crossed,” he said. However, Mr. Rousseau will not file a complaint with the Press Council. “We have enough material for this, but we will not do it. I want to use all my energy to win the elections and fundamentally change certain things in this country,” he concludes.

A new case surfaced on Thursday. The Attorney General confirmed that an investigation was underway into the president’s shocking statements to police officers in Sint-Niklaas. Racist remarks were allegedly made.

“In fact, I went that day to a pub in Saint-Nicolas and I spoke to several police officers there,” said Mr. Rousseau. “I had drunk too much, but as I remember, the tenor of these conversations was rather pleasant and friendly. I don’t remember exactly what was said, but what is written about it surprises me a lot. So I hope that the prosecution will invite me soon so that I can shed light on what exactly happened.
