The Chairman of the Chechen Parliament, Magomed Daudov (known as Lord), said that in the region, all copies of a history textbook for 10 grades, which was criticized because of the section on Stalin’s deportation of the peoples of the USSR, were seized from schools. Post this appeared in Daudov’s telegram channel.

“I would like to note that the entire circulation of the textbook I am talking about is in our republic on behalf of Ramzan Akhmatovich [Кадырова] removed from schools. Fortunately, in our country it is unacceptable to insult people. Especially the peoples whose representatives made an invaluable contribution to strengthening statehood and protecting the interests of the Motherland,” Daudov wrote in a telegram.

After some time, the Chechen politician’s entry was edited, and the paragraph about the confiscation of school textbooks disappeared from it. Meduza has at its disposal screenshot Daudov’s original message.

Daudov also said that he conveyed the position of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, to the author of the textbook, the head of the Russian Military Historical Society and adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Medinsky. According to speaker Daudov, Medinsky “admitted that this chapter was taken without changes from previous editions and assured of his readiness to put it in order.”

Caucasian public figures and politicians criticized the new history textbook because of words about the deportation of peoples writes publication “Caucasus.Realities”. In paragraph 31 saidthat during the Great Patriotic War, Chechens, Ingush, Karachais, Kalmyks, Balkars and Crimean Tatars were deported to the eastern regions of the USSR “on the basis of facts of cooperation with the occupiers.”

New textbooks on general history and Russian history for grades 10 and 11 were presented in early August. Among the authors of the textbooks is Vladimir Medinsky. The textbooks completely rewrote sections on the period of the 1970s–2000s, and also added a section on “special military operations” (as the Russian authorities call the invasion of Ukraine – approx. “Jellyfish”).

Scientific director of the Russian Military Historical Society (RVIO) Mikhail Myagkov said that in the new unified textbook on the history of Russia, the role of Joseph Stalin is presented “objectively”, in contrast to the textbooks of the 1990s, where Stalin “was a tyrant, a beast, a mediocre commander, who filled the enemy with corpses.”

A new history textbook for 11th graders has been presented in Russia. With a section on “special operations” “This is a unique time. Russia is a country of opportunities”
