There are dramatic images: During a concert, rapper Costa Titch (28) seems to stumble on stage and falls to the ground. in the middle of a song. His co-singer picks him up – a few seconds later Costa Titch collapses again.
The incident happened on Saturday at the “Ultra Music Festival” in Johannesburg (South Africa) in front of thousands of spectators. Now it has become known: The rapper died after his collapse.
That shared his family on the Instagram-Account of the musician, whose real name is Constantinos Tsobanoglou.
“Death tragically knocked on our door,” his family wrote. Death robbed them of their beloved son, brother and grandson.
And further: “We are grateful for the rescue workers and everyone who was present on this earth in his last hours. As a family we are going through a difficult time trying to process what has happened and ask that we be given time and space to collect ourselves.”
Declared dead in hospital
The British “Sun” reports that the rapper was first taken to the hospital and pronounced dead there.
Costa Titch was considered a star of the rap scene, especially in South Africa. On YouTube, many of his songs found an audience of millions. He started his career as a background dancer, then started as a rapper himself in 2020.
At the beginning of the year, the musician switched to the record label of the well-known American singer Akon (49). Together, the two released the song “Big Flexa” – it has been viewed more than 45 million times on YouTube.
“I knew he would conquer the music industry”
Akon was shocked by the death of his music partner. On Instagram he said goodbye with moving words: “Costa Titch was more than just an artist. He was a brilliant superstar and a hard working man with a kind heart that made him endearing to everyone around him.”
Akon continues: “I was convinced that he would make a difference in this world. Costa Titch had a vision that I knew for sure would take over the music industry worldwide. And he was well on his way to doing just that when God’s plan intervened. It’s a sad day. But I feel better knowing that he died doing what he loved most in this world. God bless you Costa!”
