“Super cold”. This is how Australians have named the virus that has caused a wave of infections since the country lifted its anti-Covid health restrictions in February. With thousands of cases reported, this viral infection presents several symptoms, some of which are similar to the stomach flu (nausea, diarrhea, vomiting) and others are similar to those of Covid-19 (sore throat, headache, cold, intense fatigue) to the point of mistaking the origin of the contamination.
But while doctors in Australia are encouraging continued testing, symptomatic people who have been tested believing they have SARS-CoV-2 are mostly testing negative. None of the concerned has so far shown loss of smell and taste.
