On the 26th, the agency Big Ocean E&M released an interview with Crown J.
Crown J released the double title songs ‘RUN THIS CITY (I’M GOOD PT. 2) (Feat. CHANGMO)’ and ‘BUST IT (Feat. UNEDUCATED KID)’ on online music sites on the 19th. He made a comeback to the music industry after 5 years.
In particular, in this double title song of Crown J, outstanding rappers such as Changmo and Uneducated Kid were featured and drew attention. Crown J’s story related to this has been summarized in Q&A.
◆How do you feel about the comeback after 5 years?
First of all, thank God for being able to make a comeback. I am very grateful to my mother and my girlfriend and also to the fans who waited for me. I also want to say thank you to Uneducated Kid and Changmo.
◆Please introduce the double title tracks of the new albums ‘Run This City’ and ‘Busset’. And is there any reason for the comeback with the double title song?
First, ‘Bust it’ is a hip-hop classic original Club Banger sound. Due to the corona virus, many people, including myself, had no choice but to spend time at home, and it made me feel down. I was able to be born with inspiration from people around me who are working hard in a society that is now open again. The Uneducated Kid helped with the feature. To express the lyrics in one word, it is a song that mainly contains the message, ‘Dance that life (Bust it) because today we are going without a break’.
‘Run this city’ is a pt.2 of I’m Good, which I worked with Hyun-do Lee of Deuce in 2010, and it is a song that expresses the sound of authentic Atlanta Southern Hiphop as it is. Light brass and lead melodies dominate, and it is made to give the listeners lost confidence and courage. For the feature, Changmo helped. In particular, ‘Number 1’, ‘Trust Nobody’, ‘Kevin is a playboy’, ‘LOLO’, ‘Do it every day’, ‘Pull up’, ‘Too’ Much)’ etc. The point is that Changmo wrote the lyrics together like a puzzle with the song titles from my 1st album to 2017.
◆If there is a reason why the Uneducated Kid and Changmo participated as a feature? Do you have a special relationship with Changmo?
Among the songs that Uneducated Kid did not release this time, there is a song with Superby and Paul Blanco. Introduced the Uneducated Kid through FaceTime. Then the Uneducated Kid came to our place and we met for the first time. After that, we continued to maintain a good relationship with each other, and while we were talking on the phone recently about this ‘Busset’, we first suggested that we want to work together, so we were able to complete the song together.
After hearing the news that Changmo had ‘shouted out’ me several times on Instagram, I kept in touch and maintained a good relationship. We met and talked about various musical things about hip-hop, and Changmo said that ‘I’m good’ is one of my favorite songs, ‘Run’, ‘I’m good pt.2’ This City could be born.
◆Are there any artists you would like to work on in the future?
Actually, I want to work with many artists. Rather than wanting to work with just one or two people, I think it’s right for me to work with the artist who seems to be the best fit for the music. If there is an artist who is featured in the next song, it seems like someone who can answer this question.
◆As a hip-hop artist, is there any image you want to be imprinted on the public?
To the people below, or to those who, like me, are ‘on the way up’ from the bottom.
This is what I want as an artist who never gives up until the very end and makes me feel confident.
◆What are your future plans?
We will continue to make good music in the future. I want to fill in the younger artists in the ‘Fly Boy’ label, so I want to meet fans through performances and deliver positive energy.
