Cubans continue to arrive to repopulate. How to apply? 2024-04-09 08:52:35

Fortunately, every week we read reports in the Spanish press of Cubans who arrive through the Arraigo Project with their entire family, to repopulate rural towns in the Iberian country. How can you apply?

According to the Burgos newspaper, the Arraigo Project, in collaboration with Sodebur, welcomed this April 5 the first two families to join the repopulation plan for the province of Burgos. A family from Cuba has settled in the town of Lerma, while another family from Valencia has settled in Castrojeriz, where they will dedicate themselves to the hospitality sector.

In total, ten new people have joined the Burgos community, taking a first step towards the revitalization of rural areas. A project that has taken hundreds of Cubans between 2023 and 2024 to their Spanish roots and to rural populations with a lack of inhabitants.

Carlos Gallo, head of the Burgos Promotion Society, describes the arrival of the first two families to the Burgos territory as “great news” as part of the Repuebla Plan. This fact not only confirms the potential of the plan, but can also act as a motivating element for the rest of the towns, generating a positive contagion effect.

Gallo, who began this project in February with hope, now feels renewed enthusiasm upon seeing the first results. The initiative represents a crucial step in the fight against depopulation and a boost for the social and economic development of the rural areas of Burgos.

Rooting in Spain Project, Cubans as protagonists

From the Facebook page of the Spanish Arraigo Project, they gave more details about these new Cubans in the Iberian country.

“Lianne and her family landed in Barajas from Cuba last week. Our technician Kiarela is waiting for you at the airport. From there, they continued on their way to Lerma, in Burgo, Cristina and Silvia accompany them in their new life!

“The work carried out by Proyecto Arraigo for @sodebur is beginning to bear fruit with 2 families, with 5 members each. Your destinations, Lerma and Castrojeriz. Another one is expected in Oña in June,” they added.

How to take part? The first thing you should keep in mind is that in order to participate in the project it is essential to be in possession of a Residence Permit, Work Permit in Spain or be a Spanish or European Union citizen. You can register or request more information from this page.
