The conductor Michael Brown does not hide his deep admiration for the great Johann Sebastian Bach. It is to transmit his passion to the general public that he has imagined surprising musical encounters where the classical sounds of Bach rub shoulders with the traditional rhythms from Ivory Coast and Mali.

This documentary retraces the creative journey of the conductor and theToulouse Baroque Ensemble. From this collaboration were born the “cantatas without net”, an atypical initiative which invites the spectators to join the choir. Michel Brun wants decompartmentalize classical music and break down preconceived ideas among so-called “prevented” audiences, such as high school dropouts. A great lesson in humanity!

Portrait of a sentimental and committed writer

The documents of “La Grande Librairie”
Balzac

Balzac

Do we really know Honoré de Balzac ? Sentimental, ambitious and committed, he is the author of more than 90 romans with his masterpiece of French literature: The Human Comedy. However, the acerbic pen of the “revolutionary writer”, as described victor hugo, has not always brought him luck. Adored by the general public, but often hounded by the courts, Balzac still inspires novelists and filmmakers today.

This episode inaugurates the new series of historical documentaries of France 5. The Docs of La Grande Librairie tell the life and work of a great writer in 90 minutes. Virginia Woolf, Guy de Maupassant, Gustave Flaubert or Marguerite Duraswho will be the next one ?

A documentary by Francois Busnel et Adrien Soland

Written and narrated by Francois Busnel

Produced by Emmanuel Perreau et Rosebud Productions
