customers will be able to receive a brand new box… by opting for the most expensive packs or by paying!

From next May, some Proximus customers will be able to receive a new, more efficient b-box. The router, a worthy successor to the b-box3V+, will stand out from its predecessors by integrating the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard. Without going into details, this ensures a better speed to offer a faster connection in fact. However, this is ultimately not the real advantage of this new b-box.

In reality, this gain in speed cannot be translated and will therefore not be felt by customers. The real difference, and the advantage of this new router, lies in its ability to manage a large number of connected devices. “Wi-Fi 6 is less affected by other Wi-Fi networks,” explains Haroun Fenaux, spokesperson for Proximus, to Geeko. “The connection time is also improved because there is less waiting time when many devices access the Wi-Fi 6 router simultaneously.” Be careful, however, to check that your various devices are Wi-Fi 6 compatible .

A reserved offer

For customers who wish to obtain this new b-box, please note that the new box will be – initially – reserved for new customers opting for the largest “fiber optic” or “copper (VDSL)” pack. For people who already have a subscription, Proximus specifies that they can receive it free of charge by choosing to take the largest “optical fiber” or “copper (VDSL)” pack. In summary, the new b-box will be free for all eligible packs.

For the others, it will be necessary to arm yourself with a little patience – since no date has been confirmed by the operator (this could be done after June 2022) – and above all to get your hands on the wallet. Proximus has already announced that people who want to acquire this new b-box without changing their subscription will have to pay. How much ? No amount has been advanced at this time.
