This Saturday, the Australian Caleb Ewan (Jayco AlUla) won the first stage of the Tour of Oman, ahead of the Frenchman Bryan Coquard (Cofidis).

Caleb Ewan returns to success. This Saturday, the 29-year-old Australian won, in a sprint, the first stage of the Tour of Oman, 181.5 kilometers long and run between the Oman Across Ages Museum and the Oman Exhibition and Convention Center. Oman. The resident of the Jayco AlUla team is ahead of the Frenchman Bryan Coquard (Cofidis), second, while the Norwegian Alexander Kristoff (Uno-X Mobility) finishes in third place. Ewan therefore takes the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, to the extent that he also takes the lead in the general classification of this cycling event. The Australian is also further improving his record, with this 61st victory since the start of his career in the professional peloton. Ewan used to average six wins per season.

Magnier, a top 5 at 19 years old

Despite everything, the 2023 financial year was particularly disappointing for him, with only a small success to be had. The profile of the last four stages of this 2024 edition of the Tour of Oman should not suit the main interested party. This arrival this Saturday was the only one that could give him a chance of winning. And the Australian was therefore able to respond, before sharing his joy, in comments reported by theAFP : « I’m really happy to have won because it was my only chance here, so we really had to take it. My start to the season hadn’t been great (…), the pressure was starting to mount. » Neo-professional, and two weeks after his inaugural victory during the Majorca challenge, the Frenchman Paul Magnier (19 years old) confirmed it, taking fifth place of the day.
