Damian Lillard’s Uncertain Future: Meeting with Blazers GM and Potential Miami Heat Partnership

Damian Lillard is due to meet with Blazers GM Joe Cronin this week. The tension inevitably rises on the side of Portland, a few days after the Draft, pending a decision from the All-Star point guard, of whom we do not know if he is sufficiently convinced by the attempts to improve his the workforce by the front office. From Sam Amick of The Athletic, Lillard has his mind elsewhere. The insider reports that “Dame” is still very interested in joining the Miami Heat and partnering with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

Wanting to go somewhere is good. Being able to make the trade is another thing. It should be remembered that Damian Lillard still has four years of contract to honor with 216 million dollars in the key and a player option for an additional season at 63 million in 2026-2027. Miami is obviously not willing to let go of Adebayo and it is hard to see what package, even with Tyler Herro included, will be likely to make the operation credible.

We will obviously follow closely what will come out of the meeting between Lillard and Cronin, since it will most certainly determine what will happen in the process.
