The new flagship of the Btwin bicycle range, the Decathlon LD 920E is a victim of its… well-deserved success!
Barely in the catalog and already unavailable, whether in high or low frame. decathlon successfully launched a launch that was not at all obvious for a high-end product. In the collective unconscious, Decathlon is a brand specializing in technical products, accessible in terms of price. It was therefore courageous to include a 3,000 euro VAE in its catalog, 2,999 euros very precisely but we are angry with these repeated 9s as you certainly know.
The Decathlon LD 920E takes the general lines of the LD 500 E, but is very different in design. Its motor is no longer at the rear but in the crankset, while the frame accepts a larger battery, the reinforced fork has an absorbent collar and the handlebars are higher. The latter hosts a connected touch screenwith many features.
Automatic transmission bike
At the pedal board, the motor this Decathlon is not in-house but comes from a Belgian startup E2Drives. The French manufacturer has invested in the development of this block which will be produced in Lille. The engine is therefore a fully automatic transmission, CVT type, single speed continuously variable. This means that the bike delivers an identical gear for the cyclist, regardless of speed, and constantly delivers its torque of 65 Nm at 250W. From now on, you no longer change speed but pedaling cadence, from 40 to 90 rotations per minute, thanks to a dial placed on the left handle. Without talking about revolution, it’s a great development. We were able to try a pre-series version which really appealed to us.
Last major argument, while we hoped it would be below 4,000 euros, it is sold at an unbeatable price at this level of services. Success is never the result of chance, Decathlon proves it again.
