The Apple Vision Pro has been available in the United States since yesterday, which can be used for 2.5-3 hours before the battery runs out, depending on how it is used. The AR-headset also has a continuously active battery management system, i.e. it modifies the performance of the device in different situations. Apple’s support documents revealed that it has designed a system in VisionOS that recognizes what affects the Vision Pro’s performance and reduces it in response. Lower frame rate, reduced Wi-Fi speed, longer charging time, darkening screen, lower volume – you have to think about things like that. All these processes are analyzed by the headset that is running on low battery, has an old or outdated battery, or is running at maximum performance. The mechanism was designed by the Cupertino tech company with software and hardware integration.
“Apple Vision Pro has built-in software and hardware systems. They help reduce performance impacts that can occur under certain conditions (such as a low battery, high peak power, or chemically aged battery). The system is automatic, always on, and working for the best possible performance. It dynamically monitors energy demands and manages performance to meet those demands in real time. The system allows Apple Vision Pro to balance and reduce performance impacts as much as possible. The user may (or may not) notice the effects on the device, which may be temporary. Depending on the condition of the device’s battery and the tasks handled by Apple Vision Pro, some examples of these effects are: longer application launch times, lower frame rates, reduced wireless data transfer, screen dimming, or lower speaker volume,” Apple wrote.
In 2017, Apple was accused of quietly reducing the performance of the iPhone because it did not mention the changes when the device was released. The company did not want to do this again, so the Apple Vision Pro was released with such information from the get-go.
