In the midst of the discussion to define a single list for the election of councilors, Deputy Diego Ibáñez (CS) stated that I Approve Dignity has already “completed its cycle” and proposed forming a new government coalition headed by the PS.
A true political earthquake is experienced within the political forces of the ruling party. All after the declarations of the deputy and president of Social convergence (CS), Diego Ibanezwhich proposed to dissolve I approve Dignity y form a new coalition between the parties of the left. And he did not stop at that, but suggested that the new bloc be headed by the Socialist Party (PS).
The CS helmsman called on the PS to stick together in the midst of the discussion on how to compete in the May elections for the new Constitutional Council. In interview with
“The decisions that the PS has made throughout the history of Chile mark cycles for the left and for progressivism. Therefore, the social transformations that are sustained behind his program. That is the caliber of the definition that the PS is taking”, said Ibáñez.

“What we propose is not that they join Appruebo Dignidad, which has already completed its cycle, but to set up a new political coalition where the socialists assume an important leadership in the construction of the new left”, he added.
From I Approve Dignity, a group that makes up the Communist Party (PC) and the parties of the Broad Front (Democratic Revolution, Social Convergence and Commons), advocate for a single list of the ruling party to compete in the May 7 elections. Although from the PS they expect the same, the PPD, the other big party of Democratic Socialism, intends to go on a separate list together with the Christian Democrats (DC).
In the Socialist Party there are different voices, despite the fact that the party’s position is to go on a single list. But if this is not the case, there are those who believe that they should ally with Approve Dignity and others seek to revive the old Concertación, with the PPD and the DC.
“The fundamental reflection is among those of us who feel on the left, which is to assume that today there is a change of cycle, and that for our ideas to advance it is necessary to reconfigure the coalitions”, insisted Ibáñez.
“I think it is a recomposition of the political board of the entire left, both for Democratic Socialism and for Approve Dignitythat they have completed certain cycles and that it is important to feel the need to build a new coalition between the world of the left and the center-left,” added the Broad Front deputy.
Although from the Socialist Party they see it as almost impossible for the ruling party to be a single list in the elections for councillors, Ibáñez said he was optimistic and hoped that the PPD could still be convinced of the contrary.
