A 45-year-old childcare worker has been charged with sexually abusing 91 girls in Australia, in what is being described as the worst child sex abuse case in the country’s history. He will appear in the District Court on the 21st for trial.
According to “Al Jazeera” report, a former male child care worker in Australia was accused of sexually abusing 91 girls, and also recorded a video and put it on the Internet. The Australian Federal Police (AFP) said the man had been charged with 1623 separate offences, including 246 of rape and 613 of child exploitation. Police allege the man committed crimes at 12 different childcare centers in Sydney, Brisbane and overseas between 2007 and 2022, while he passed a background check for work and allegedly documented the abuse, all of the victims were preteens girl.
The police said 87 Australian children were involved in the child exploitation videos, and they are now working with international partners to identify four abused children overseas. Investigators are understood to have been looking for the man since 2014, when child exploitation images and videos were discovered on the dark web. The man, from Gold Coast, Queensland, has been detained since he was arrested in August last year on multiple charges. His name has not been disclosed. He will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on the 21st.
AFP Northern Assistant Commissioner Justine Gough said he was grateful for the efforts of law enforcement to stop further abuse, but it was shocking news. New South Wales police said that this is the most horrific alleged child abuse case they have ever seen. “We will work with our partners to prosecute anyone who persecutes vulnerable groups.”
