Going on a hike enjoying the smells, sounds and colors of nature transports you to paradise while doing sports. Andalusia offers so many special landscapes that today we bring you a list of the 7 most outstanding routes in the community.

1. Borosa River Route (Jaén)

This hiking is also known as Elias closed and it is undoubtedly the most famous route of the natural park of the Sierra de Cazorla and the province of Jaén. It is a spectacular circuit that includes suspended walkways, wooden bridges, waterfalls and pools with turquoise waters, impressive vertical walls, …

The route has a total of 22 kilometers (about 6-7 hours) which are done linearly, so it is not necessary to do the whole route. The difficulty is low to medium, perfect for a family or group excursion. LePetitJournal recommends that you take this excursion on days with slightly warm temperatures because, in such an environment, it is ideal to cool off in the natural pools along the way.

2. Route of Los Cahorros de Monachil (Grenade)

The canyon of the Monachil river is one of the great attractions for hikers in Granada. The Monachil River is born in the Sierra Nevada Natural Park and flows into the Mediterranean. It’s not just hiking enthusiasts who visit the puppies but there are also those who practice climbing or cycling.

To start, you must go to the town of Monachil (14 km from Granada) to start a low to medium difficulty route of about 8 kilometers. However, it can be traveled in different ways because there are multiple attractions (suspension bridges, caves, waterfalls, fountains…) and different paths, well marked.

3. Lagune Fuente de Piedra (Málaga)

It is the largest lagoon in all of Andalusia and has been declared a protected natural area. Located between Malaga, Cordoba and Seville, the lagoon Stone fountain offers a privileged environment for the reproduction of the pink flamingo and as a wintering area.

THE possible routes to borrow around the lagoon are easily adaptable to the tastes and needs of the hiker since there are family routes of a few hours and others of more than 20 kilometers for the sportsmen. The terrain is generally flat and clearly marked. you have several observatories to enjoy admiring wonderful animals. Don’t forget your binoculars!

4. Ascension to Pico del Cielo (Málaga)

The climb to Sky Peak (or Sommet du Ciel) is a route as demanding as it is rewarding, however we do not recommend it as a family route. Its summit culminates at 1508 meters above sea level, 6 kilometers from the coast in a straight line. Its location is a key point for the views it can offer: the African and Andalusian coasts, on the one hand, and the Sierra Nevada, on the other.

The type of trail we offer is linear and depending on where you choose the starting point, the round trip distance can be calculated between 14 (recreation area Pinarillo ) and 20 kilometers (nerja caves). The summit is crowned by a cross, a geodesic summit and a sign indicating your success: the ascent of Pico del Cielo!

5. Pinsapar de Grazalema (Cádiz)

In the heart of the Sierra de Grazalema, we immerse ourselves in a forest of fir trees Pinsapo that few have the privilege of visiting. Completing this route will require permissions which you must request in advance and which are totally free. But why so much exclusivity? We must not forget that we are in a nature reserve and that the fir Pinsapo is a species of tree in danger of extinction and that it is found only in the Sierra de Grazalema and in the Sierra de Ronda.

The journey is about 11 kilometers, linear and of medium difficulty. Climbing through the forest (its initial part is the most demanding of the whole route), you will begin to encounter the most centenary Spanish fir trees, almost 400 years old, and admire the reservoir of fresnillo or the round mountain range.

6. Ascent to Veleta (Grenada)

Visiting the third highest peak on the peninsula will never be easier! We offer you this route of about 3 hours that you can enjoy with your family without any problem. It is best to do it in summer, when there is little trace of snow and ice, although on spring days like the ones we are experiencing, doing it during these weeks would be ideal.

To start, you can drive to Hoya de la Mora, put on good shoes and start climbing up to 3,398 meters above sea level. Gradually you will come across several mountain goats, views of the Mediterranean coasts and the greenhouses of Almeria. On days with little cloud cover, it will be possible to see the coast of Morocco and the Rock of Gibraltar. From the monolith that crowns the summit, it will be impossible to avoid a big smile of satisfaction!

7. Chorreras (Jaen)

The road to jabots is located in Valdepeñas, one of the most beautiful and visited natural areas in the province. Throughout the hike, you will realize that the water and the richness of its vegetation are the two main elements, since you will take several footbridges and wooden bridges which will gradually immerse you in a new paradise.

This path is ideal to do with the family without making a big effort. Although this can easily be done in an hour, it usually takes longer as the water encourages soaking!
