Management wants more clarity in the exhibitions it offers. For this, the miniatures will be entitled to a dedicated building a few steps from the museum.
On one side, original pieces of cinema classics. On the other, miniatures by artist Dan Holmann. All brought together in the first private museum in Lyon.
The Cinema and Miniature museum offers visitors the opportunity to discover an immense collection. But the management now wants more clarity to highlight all the exhibits, learned BFM Lyon. According to our information, the two collections, cinema and miniature, will therefore be clearly separated.
“Make the offer more visible”
Julien Dumont, director and collector, acquired the Cinéma et Miniature museum in Lyon at the end of 2021, wanting to give it a new impetus. This thus involves “making the museum’s offer more readable by separating the two collections”.
The collection of miniatures, created from scratch in 2005 and notably representing several buildings in Lyon, will be transferred to a building recently acquired by the management, the Maison du Chamarier. It is located in the 5th arrondissement, just a few steps from the museum.
The exhibitions around the cinema will remain in the historic building of the museum. With the transfer of the miniatures, the third floor will be freed up and will make it possible to install new rooms around the cinema. Costumes, sets and emblematic accessories can easily be installed in this new space.
The separation of miniatures and cinema is scheduled for 2024. Until then, the museum continues to diversify its exhibitions, especially in November, when an exhibition dedicated to the work of Wes Anderson will be opened.
Each year, 310,000 visitors come to discover the first private museum in Lyon.
