Dubai Charity Association’s Ramadan Initiative: Providing 23,500 Iftar Meals Daily for Workers and Those in Need

During the first ten days of Ramadan, the Dubai Charity Association succeeded in providing 23,500 iftar meals to those who were fasting, from the segments of workers and those with limited income, within the country daily, with a total total of 235,000 meals in the first third of the blessed month. It also distributed 2,800 iftar meals. daily outside the country, with a total toll of 28,000 meals, as part of its annual Ramadan initiative (Iftar for the fasting person).

The association’s executive director, Ahmed Al Suwaidi, said: “Iftar for a fasting person is a major initiative in a series of humanitarian and community initiatives launched by Dubai Charity during the holy month of Ramadan, as part of the agenda of its annual Ramadan campaign (Goodness endures), from which hundreds of thousands of fasting people benefit. The Emirates and around the world, with broad charitable and humanitarian goals and ambitions, and it embodies a bright societal scene in the Emirates, in which efforts, energies and capabilities are combined by government and private sector institutions, charitable work institutions, civil society and individuals.

He added: “The initiative to provide iftar meals to fasting workers and those with limited incomes has achieved great success and a wide response from donors and charitable ambassadors before and during the holy month, because it is one of their favorite works,” noting that the association began distributing iftar meals from the first day of Ramadan. In 15 locations, ranging from the courtyards of mosques, labor housing, and areas where workers are located in the Emirate of Dubai, in coordination with the kitchens that were selected and contracted with and ensuring compliance with all health, safety and quality standards. The association also distributes Iftar meals to those fasting outside the Emirates in 98 mosques in 18 nation.

Al-Suwaidi explained that the Ramadan campaign includes three other main seasonal projects in addition to iftar for the fasting person, which are: Ramadan Meer, the Joy of an Orphan, and Zakat al-Fitr, in addition to the implementation of many sustainable charitable projects and initiatives to meet the diverse humanitarian, social, and Ramadan requirements and needs of the beneficiaries.
