The Gamers Assembly, which is celebrating its 23rd edition, is expecting more than 2,000 players for three days, from April 8 to 10, at the Poitiers exhibition center.

It is the first esports event in France. The 23rd edition of the Gamers Assembly began this Saturday morning in the main hall of the Poitiers exhibition center.

After several years marked by the Covid, the organizers are expecting some 2,100 players. This is almost as much as in 2019, registrations had reached 2,500 players that year!

“This year promises to be exceptional. The recovery in 2022 was quite nice, but very weak, explains Yohan Labregère, president of FuturoLAN, this year, we are starting to re-explode the scores and that’s really good.”

With more than 20 LAN (local network) tournaments planned, the organizers have bet on sure values ​​​​of competitive video games such as League of Legends and Valorant, the finals of which will close the festivities on Monday, April 10.

But all styles are represented: card game (Hearthstone), shooting game (FPS) or tactical game (Counter-Strike, Rocket League). Fighting games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Guilty Gear, as well as strategy games (Age of Empires) are not forgotten either.

A great classic of the Poitevin event: the “Trophée des Seniors: Silver Geek” which sees the best seniors in the New Aquitaine region compete this Saturday. Proof that esports attracts gamers of all ages.

Strength of the Gamers, more than 20,000 visitors will walk the aisles of the GA to witness the meetings in the flesh, which are all equally broadcast live.

Note for the first time this year, the introduction of the Arènes du Jeu, a 600m² space to allow visitors to discover the world of video games with independent game creators, cultural mediators and specialists inedutainment (education through play).
