University of Minnesota Duluth women’s hockey goaltender Eve Gascon was named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association’s Goaltender of the Week following a shutout series against Bemidji State University just moments after securing a spot on the Canadian National Team’s World Championship roster.
Gascon Leads Goaltenders in GAA and Save Percentage
- Depth Chart Dominance: With a 0.40 GAA and a .982 save percentage, she ranks first among goaltenders that have played three or more games in GAA, save percentage, and wins for the Bulldogs.
Gascon Becomes All-Time Career Shutout Leader
The accolade arrived after a demanding stretch that tested the senior netminder’s endurance. Gascon spent last week fulfilling duties at Team Canada Camp, which prevented her from practicing with the Bulldogs prior to the weekend series. She stepped off a plane straight onto a bus bound for Bemidji, Minnesota, and immediately delivered two consecutive shutouts.
Friday night’s performance marked a historic milestone as Gascon secured her 24th career shutout, surpassing the previous benchmark to become the program’s all-time career shutout leader. She followed up that historic night by grabbing her 25th career shutout on Saturday. The Mascouche, Quebec native turned away 42 total shots over the weekend to claim her third and fourth shutouts of the young campaign.
Early Season Dominance Across the NCAA
Gascon's stellar weekend performance highlights a blistering start to the season. Across five appearances, she has already accumulated four shutouts, placing her alone atop the NCAA leaderboard in that category with double the total of any goaltender sitting in second place.
Among all netminders with three or more games played, Gascon currently ranks first nationally in goals-against average at 0.40 and save percentage at .982, alongside her five victories. The latest WCHA weekly honor adds to an eventful stretch that bridges her international commitments with her dominant collegiate play.
