Exclusive information for MTV about the talks of the Minister of the Displaced in Syria

The file of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon constitutes a substance for political disputes. Some parties refuse to return under the pretext of “security guarantees”. In this context, the banner of the visit of the Minister of the Displaced in the caretaker government, Issam Sharaf al-Din, to the Syrian capital, Damascus, where he discussed the voluntary return of the displaced to their country.

The director of media in the “Lebanese Democratic Party” Gad Haidar, who was among the delegation accompanying the minister, singled out mtv with the details of the visit and what was agreed upon, noting that the displacement file has become a huge burden on Lebanon with the bad economic situation we are living in.

He said, “Minister Sharaf al-Din is concerned with the file, as he is a member of the Displaced Persons Committee, and is charged with communicating and coordinating with the Syrian state,” noting that “the meetings yesterday included the Syrian Minister of Local Administration and Environment Hussein Makhlouf and the Syrian Minister of Interior, Major General Muhammad al-Rahmoun, and they discussed the plan that is It was put forward by Sharaf al-Din, who suggested setting a specific number, i.e. about 15,000 displaced people, for return, at first, but the two sides agreed not to specify any number for return.

Haidar confirmed that coordination with the Syrian state is complete, adding: “We are ready to go with the file until its conclusion,” noting that “the duties of the Lebanese state are to count the numbers of displaced people, and organize them according to regions.”

Haidar spoke of “there were 532 shelters in Syria previously, but the number was reduced to 58 vacant centers by 21,000 displaced people.”

He stressed that “it is not permissible in Lebanon to have arguments and put pretexts to prevent the return of the displaced,” pointing to “a great and essential role for international organizations that must define their role in the return of the displaced.”

Haidar revealed that “Sharaf al-Din has and will hold meetings with Lebanese officials to put them in the atmosphere of his visit to Syria,” calling for an “expanded meeting of the Lebanese concerned with the file of the displaced in Baabda, to put everyone before his responsibilities,” adding: “We are ready to reveal who is obstructing the return,” referring to “Among the proposals circulating is to resort to the Impact platform to register everyone who wants to return to Syria to register their name.”
