F1: Alexander Albon leaves hospital in Milan and returns to Monaco[F1-Gate.com]

Alexander Albon was temporarily in the intensive care unit due to respiratory failure due to anesthesia complications after surgery for appendicitis, which developed on the weekend of the F1 Italian Grand Prix, but recovered and returned to Monaco.

On Saturday morning, minutes before final practice at Monza, the Williams F1 Team announced that Alexander Albon will be out of action for the rest of the race weekend due to appendicitis.

His replacement, Nick de Vries, made many headlines with his stellar F1 debut. He reached Q3 in qualifying, started the race from eighth on the grid due to an engine penalty by a rival, and finished ninth for two points.

On Monday, 24 hours after the race, the Williams F1 team issued a disturbing press release. Alexander Albon, who underwent surgery to have his appendix removed, revealed that he had respiratory failure due to complications from anesthesia and was admitted to the intensive care unit.

According to BBC Sport, two-year-old Alexander Albon “has been discharged from a hospital in Milan following an appendectomy and has returned to his home in Monaco.”

“The recovery is going according to plan. The target remains the Singapore Grand Prix.”

Williams then confirmed the news by telling the PA News Agency:

“I am happy to announce that Alex Albon has returned home.”

Alexander Albon’s hopes of not missing any more F1 races were helped by the cancellation of the Sochi race scheduled for September 25.

So the planned tripleheader turned into a doubleheader in Singapore and Japan on the first two Sundays in October, giving Alexander Albon an extra week to recover.

In his first year with Williams, Alexander Albon scored four points in three different races in Australia, Miami and Belgium.

De Vries’ two points at Monza added to Williams’ total of six points and they remain tenth in the Constructors’ Championship. Nicolas Latifi has yet to add a point this season.
