Facebook, Instagram and Messenger are not working again. People all over the world have problems

Meta’s Facebook, Instagram and Messenger apps were hit by yet another global outage on Wednesday, March 20. Only two weeks after the first unpleasant experience, people from the USA, Great Britain, parts of Europe and Asia complained about non-functional applications. Foreign media reported on the problems.

People are in trouble according to Down Detector website data – who monitors application problems – started complaining around 3 p.m. Users reported complications accessing their accounts through both apps and websites. The outage occurred roughly two weeks after Meta’s first similar problem, which also noticeably affected users from the Czech Republic. It was one of the largest outages in recent history and affected millions of users worldwide. The company then managed to fix the problem within an hour. “We are aware that people have problems accessing our services. We are working on it now,” Meta spokesman Andy Stone said at the time in a post on the X social network.

What was behind the second outage is not yet known. The one from March 5 was supposed to cause an internal problem. Just like then, users logged on to social network X to complain about the outage.

Just like two weeks ago, users were reporting that the apps were not working properly for them, for example comments were not being displayed or they were unable to reply to messages. People who tried to log in to Facebook were told that their accounts had been suspended or their session had expired, so they had to log in again.

Around 7 p.m., the number of problem reports began to drop significantly. Messenger had the fewest problems, with only individuals complaining about outages on Facebook and Instagram. Around 10 p.m., the number of reported problems returned to normal standards.
