Carlo Ancelotti praised the performance of his players and Real Madrid’s victory over Atletico Madrid 2-1 in the sixth round of the Spanish League.
Real Madrid beat Atletico Madrid with two goals to one at the Metropolitano Stadium.
Ancelotti said in the press conference after the match: “I am happy with the victory, we could have scored more, but the most important thing is to get the three points.”
“The players were great, even in the absence of Karim Benzema, and we have to continue winning and achieving victories,” he stressed.
“We must always win, with or without Benzema, we just had to be more efficient in the second half,” Ancelotti added.
Asked about Diego Simeone’s comment, Ancelotti replied: “Did he say we defended well in the low zone? Thank him, it’s a nice compliment from him.”
As for Rudiger’s participation, he explained, “I wanted to play with full ranks and Mendy had a yellow card and the match was charged, so I did not like to take risks because I did not want to play with ten men.”
Ancelotti praised, “The duo of Valverde and Rodrygo are distinguished players, and they are an example of a modern footballer, as they are a mixture of a technical and physical player.”
“We controlled the match from the start until the 80th minute, and the racist chants did not prevent us from winning,” the Italian coach stressed.
“Losing control in the last 10 minutes is an important matter that will be considered during the international break,” he added.
Ancelotti concluded his statements, “Atletico Madrid is a good team, and the start of the match was enthusiastic on their part, but their results in the recent period are not good, and despite that, they will continue the battle for the top until the end.”
