This Sunday evening, around 8 p.m., a thick column of smoke was visible from Mouscron. She could let believe in an impressive fire in the zoning of the screaming city… But it is not so! The fire took place further, in the Kortrijk countryside, less than a kilometer from the Piro Lannoo restaurant, in the village of Rollegem.
It is from a farm in the rue de Mouscron, in Rollegem that all this black smoke emerges. The fire is said to have started in a building of a pigsty. Impressive resources have been sent to the scene: there are at least four or five fire engines and firefighters on the job. Before 9 p.m., sirens were still sounding in the countryside, signaling the arrival of other fire trucks. Given the location of the fire, it is probably the Fluvia rescue zone that was dispatched to the scene. The Wallonia Picardy rescue zone confirmed to us that it was not responding to this fire. On the other hand, the police of Mouscron came to help by blocking the access to the rue de Mouscron.
At the time of writing these lines, we do not know the circumstances and the importance of the fire.
