Four firefighters hospitalized after sustaining injuries.

A fire occurred at the Couillet mosque on 112 rue de Marcinelle, which had already experienced a fire the day before. The Marcinelle firefighters had to intervene once again on Tuesday morning when flames escaped from the roof, similar to the previous day. During this intervention, four firefighters suffered injuries due to falling drywall sheets or a collapsed chimney section while they were in the building. The injured firefighters were taken care of by emergency services before being transferred to a hospital. One firefighter had already been injured in the hand the day before. Charleroi police are blocking the area around the place of worship, which is closed to prayers during Ramadan. The mosque accommodates 300 to 400 people when worship is held. The reason for the resumption of fire remains unknown.

This is called a resumption of fire or fire: the Couillet mosque, located at 112 rue de Marcinelle, had already suffered a fire on Monday afternoon, shortly before 5 p.m.

During this intervention, four firefighters were injured while they were in the building: we are talking about drywall sheets that fell on their backs while they were in a stairwell. Other sources mention a chimney section that would have collapsed.

The fact remains that, injured to varying degrees, these firefighters were taken care of by the emergency services before being transferred to a hospital environment, at Notre-Dame de Charleroi. Already the day before, a fireman had been injured in the hand. Charleroi police are currently blocking the area around the place of worship; a place of worship obviously closed to prayers, during this period of Ramadan. We are talking here about an attendance of 300 to 400 people when worship is held there. The origin of this recovery remains to be determined.

The incident at the Couillet mosque is a deeply concerning one, with the mosque suffering two fires in just two days. The fact that firefighters were injured during their attempt to put out the flames is an unfortunate reminder of the dangers that these brave men and women face in the line of duty. As the investigation into the cause of these fires continues, it’s important that we come together as a community to support the mosque and its congregants during this difficult time. We must stand together and condemn any acts of violence or hatred towards any religious group, and work towards building a more tolerant and inclusive society where everyone is free to practice their beliefs without fear.
