Fourth high-ranking military officer arrested for bribery – 2024-05-27 07:51:25

Lt. Gen. Vadim Samarin, deputy chief of the Basic Employees of Russia’s Military, was arrested and remanded in custody on bribery fees, based on native media.

This arrest comes as the newest in a collection of arrests of high-ranking Russian army officers.

The Russian deputy chief is suspected of corruption

Kommersant newspaper reported that Samarin was arrested on suspicion of corruption, including that authorities searched his dwelling.

In line with Russian media, a army court docket on Wednesday ordered the pretrial detention of Samarin, who was the deputy chief of the overall workers of the armed forces accountable for communications, for 2 months.

That is the fourth arrest of a high-ranking military officer since April, when then-Deputy Minister of Protection Timur Ivanov was remanded in custody till his trial on suspicion of bribery.
