Lt. Gen. Vadim Samarin, deputy chief of the Basic Employees of Russia’s Military, was arrested and remanded in custody on bribery fees, based on native media.
This arrest comes as the newest in a collection of arrests of high-ranking Russian army officers.
The Russian deputy chief is suspected of corruption
Kommersant newspaper reported that Samarin was arrested on suspicion of corruption, including that authorities searched his dwelling.
In line with Russian media, a army court docket on Wednesday ordered the pretrial detention of Samarin, who was the deputy chief of the overall workers of the armed forces accountable for communications, for 2 months.
That is the fourth arrest of a high-ranking military officer since April, when then-Deputy Minister of Protection Timur Ivanov was remanded in custody till his trial on suspicion of bribery.
With data from iefimerida, Lt. Gen. Yuri Kuznetsov, chief of workers on the Ministry of Protection, and Lt. Gen. Ivan Popov, former commander of Russia’s 58th Military, have since been arrested.
The collection of arrests comes amid main modifications to its armed forces of Russiafor the reason that president Vladimir Putin earlier this month he fired longtime minister Sergei Shoigu, changing him with Andrei Belusov.
