This very nice sum will help fund research on pediatric brain cancer.

This is a further step towards improving the management of childhood cancer. On June 2, the Aleksandr Savchuk Foundation, which notably supports innovation and the development of projects in favor of cancer research, organized a major charity evening for the benefit of the Monaco Scientific Center (CSM).

The President of the Foundation, Taisiya Savchuk, accompanied by Lady Monika Bacardi, President of the Association of Friends of the CSM, and Professor Patrick Rampal, President of the Center, inaugurated the evening. But the guests were also and above all able to meet researchers from the CSM, visit the laboratories and better understand the challenges of research on pediatric brain cancer, carried out at the Scientific Center by the “Stem Cells and Brain Tumors” team of the department of Medical Biology.

« The research work carried out at the Scientific Center of Monaco on pediatric cancers is particularly important due to their specificities.said Taisiya Savchuk. The progress that they can allow for the understanding of pediatric cancers will promote the development of appropriate treatments, the scope of which can have an impact throughout the world. We are particularly honored to be able to contribute to this research and enable the teams to fulfill the high objectives they have set themselves and to support the very high level of human and technological commitment of the CSM. »

Also, at the end of the fundraising organized during the evening, the Foundation was able to collect the handsome sum of 50,000 euros, officially handed over to the CSM on July 26, in the presence of the Management and cancer researchers of the CSM. This amount will finance a project aimed at reproducing in the laboratory the events that take place during embryonic development and that lead to the appearance of brain tumors in certain children.

Thanks to this generous donation, the current stages of the project’s maturation can be secured and accelerated. Eventually, the CSM teams hope to develop new therapeutic approaches and implement the pre-clinical studies needed to improve the management of childhood cancers.

This is not the first time that the Aleksandr Savchuk Foundation has supported the CSM. For example, the organization participated in the financing of an ultra-sharp microscope to better detect the disease in 2020. Last year, it also organized a large collection for the benefit of Ukraine.
