After the big commercial success of its Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 4 on August 10, 2022. Inheriting the status of the brand’s new folding smartphone for the general public, this new model is however very similar to its predecessor. . Would Samsung therefore offer us something warmed up for a slightly higher introductory price? Almost identical designs, but new colors
To distinguish the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, you have to look at the two folding smartphones closely, even very closely. The two devices are similar features for features in the design. But there are some differences, albeit small ones. They relate in particular to the hinge. Responding to user feedback, Samsung has refined that of the Galaxy Z Flip 4, which loses 0.8 mm in height and 0.3 mm in width. The handling of the new model is thus better. This despite gaining 4g on the scale due to its new battery.
The korean brand is also taking advantage of this new generation to introduce more fun colours: Blue, Graphite, Rose Gold and Lavender. And to go even further, Samsung also offers a special Bespoke Edition which offers up to 75 personalization possibilities.
New more efficient chip
This is one of the major improvements brought by the Galaxy Z Flip 4. Samsung replaces the old Snapdragon 888 chip of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 with the most advanced processor of the moment: the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. With a higher maximum clock frequency, this new chip better manages overheating and allows you to enjoy the battery longer.

Extended range and faster charging
Highly anticipated on this point, Samsung does not disappoint, since the “small” 3,300 mAh battery that fitted the Galaxy Z Flip3 is replaced by a bigger one of 3,700 mAh. The latter therefore promises a more comfortable autonomy by also taking advantage of the advantages of the new chip.
In addition, this power supply is compatible with wired fast charging at 25 W, where the predecessor stalls at 15 W. The new device therefore recharges faster (50% in 30 minutes). Wireless charging is also faster: 15W instead of 11W.
So, should you buy the new Galaxy Z Flip 4?
The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is currently available in pre-sale from €1,109 (excluding promo). Its predecessor is, for its part, offered from 999 € (excluding promo). If you’ve already bought the Galaxy Z Flip 3, the few improvements brought by the new generation may not be enough to convince you of a new investment. On the other hand, if it is the purchase of your first folding smartphone, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is undoubtedly the ideal choice. Its new chip and extended battery life justify, in our opinion, the current price difference between the two models.
