Gamescom in Cologne is one of the world’s largest trade fairs for computer and video games. Hundreds of thousands of guests visit the event every year to test innovations in the gaming scene directly on site. This year the fair is bigger than ever before. YouTubers, streamers and influencers as well as specialist journalists and private visitors flock to the cathedral city for the event.
Montana Black at the fair today – MinusElf and NPlay too?
11:10 am: According to “Ingame.de”, the streamers MinusElf and NPlay are at the fair today. However, these guests cannot be found on the fair’s website. Montana Black, who is currently presenting his energy drink in Hall 1, has been officially announced. The show will be repeated again at 4:30 p.m. Marcel Thomas Andreas Eris, as his real name is, recently revealed in a YouTube video that he had invested around two million euros in the energy drink business. So far, three million doses have been produced. Montana Black’s live stream on Twitch shows thousands waiting in front of the stage.
NRW Prime Minister has “no time for games”
10 O `clock: On Wednesday evening, NRW Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst visited the fair and revealed himself as a non-gamer. “We all like to play, but I have to admit that unfortunately I don’t have time for computer games,” said the CDU politician. Before that, he had briefly tried out a car racing game and a jump ‘n’ run computer game during a tour of the trade fair. The latter reminded him a bit of his childhood games, he said.
Wüst found words of praise about the growing gaming industry. “The games industry is an innovation driver for other areas,” he said. For example, young people could use simulators to gain insights into crafts and other professional areas. Gaming is “not just a game and pastime, but you can also use it to advertise jobs and thus the skilled workers of the future”.

6:05 p.m.: A total of 1,227 exhibitors are represented at Gamescom – in addition to game manufacturers such as Ubisoft, Sega and Nintendo, streaming services such as Netflix, Disney, Crunchyroll and Amazon Prime. Read more about the gaming highlights of Gamescom 2023 here.

6 p.m.: Telekom organized a panel discussion at Gamescom together with the “Equal eSports” initiative. The rapper Badmómzjay, the soccer player Andrea Gavrić from 1. Reker, Wüst and Habeck visit Gamescom
17 o’clock: Cologne’s Lord Mayor Henriette Reker also insists on visiting this year’s Gamescom. And even twice: Reker announced her first visit for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Then she wants to take a tour of the exhibition center together with NRW Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst.
On Thursday morning she will be there around 9 a.m. with Robert Habeck. The Greens politician will also officially open Gamescom with a speech on Tuesday evening at around 6.30 p.m.
