Georgia Guidestones – America’s most mysterious monument blown up

A mysterious monument stood in the US state of Georgia for more than 40 years. But now the stones are history: previously unknown perpetrators blew up the so-called “Guidestones”. Wild conspiracy theories are entwined around the explosion, just like the “American Stonehenge” itself.

About 180 kilometers from the city of Atlanta, on a hill in Elbert County, Georgia, stood the mysterious monument that has been a mystery since its construction in 1980. Because crude inscriptions were engraved, which gave conspiracy theorists cause for the wildest speculations. It was the modern day Ten Commandments or an Illuminati call for a new world order, some claimed. Others saw the so-called Georgia Guidestones as nothing less than an “American Stonehenge.” But that was once. Because on Wednesday, July 6, the monument was blown up by as yet unknown perpetrators and then had to be demolished for safety reasons.

A wild debate broke out on social media about the blast

A lightning strike, earthquake, Jesus himself: there are various theories on the internet about the destroyed Guidestones. The police, on the other hand, speak of unknown perpetrators, a detonated explosive device and published one Getaway car video.

Even if the monument was only partially destroyed by the explosions, the remains had to be demolished for safety reasons. Thus ends the story of what is probably one of the most mysterious monuments in the USA, which was even so well known that John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono referred to the Guidestones in a song. But why were these stones of all things so legendary?

It was obscure theories that made the Guidestones known far beyond their borders. What is certain is that the inscriptions on the four symmetrically arranged stone tablets, which are 5.87 meters high and weigh around 20 tons, were at least confusing, if not unsettling. The ten messages, all engraved in English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Ancient Chinese and Russian, read as follows:

The 10 messages on the Georgia Guidestones

  1. “Keep humanity under 500,000,000 in constant balance with nature.”
  2. “Unite humanity with a new language.”
  3. “Control reproduction wisely – to improve fitness and diversity.”
  4. “Rule passion – faith – tradition and all things with moderate reason.”
  5. “Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.”
  6. “Let all nations settle their own affairs internally and settle international disputes before a world court.”
  7. “Avoid petty laws and useless officials.”
  8. “Strike a balance between personal rights and societal duties.”
  9. “Worthy Truth – Beauty – Love – in Search of Harmony with the Infinite.”
  10. “Don’t be a cancer on this earth – leave space for nature – leave space for nature.”

Who had the stones erected?

A motto was also written on the monument in ancient Greek, Babylonian cuneiform, Sanskrit and Egyptian hieroglyphs: “Let these be guidestones to an age of reason.“ In English: “Leave these (Most likely the stone tablets are meant, note by the editor.) Guidestones to an Age of Sanity.” A plaque also gave clues to an ominous time capsule that was said to be buried beneath the Guidestones.

A certain RC Christian was named as the creator and author of the Guidestones on a stone, but with the note that this was a “pseudonyn”. Yes, not pseudonym, but obviously misspelled pseudonym. What this is all about remains just as mysterious as the true identity of the man. According to the US-Website „Wired“ confirmed by Elberton Granite Finishing. There, in 1979, a man called himself Robert C. Christian. For many, however, the pseudonym alone was cause for speculation. According to the nebulous website “Transinformation‘, RC stands for ‘Rose and Cross’, which in turn refers to the mystical order of the Rosicrucians. An inscription on the monument named “A small group of Americans seeking the Age of Reason” as the sponsors of the Guidestones. Some believed that only the Illuminati could be behind it.

Actually, the Guidestones should outlast the “apocalypse”.

Of course, there was also speculation as to how the mysterious inscriptions on the stones were to be interpreted. The first two messages in particular made many doubt the benevolent aims of the secret group. After all, humanity, which has already grown to billions, should be limited to a maximum of 500,000,000. So does this mean that much of humanity is to be eliminated to make way for a new elite that will exercise control over everything from reproduction to the laws to the language? An analogy to the Nazis was quickly seen, which is why the Guidestones were never a “classic attraction” when they existed.

And then there was the requirement that, according to RC Christian, the monument must have: namely, that it should be strong enough to survive a catastrophe. Aside from the fact that the Guidestones no longer exist, the question at the time was who should be responsible for this catastrophe? Could the “small group of Americans who seek the Age of Reason” be planning one of their own? Or was she just assuming one?

One thing is certain: The Guidestones implied that there will be some kind of apocalypse without naming a specific point in time. Speaking of the date: two dates were missing on the monument. Thus, the space allotted on the stones to indicate the date the time capsule was placed was left blank – as well as the time when the capsule was to be opened. A point in time that, like the clarification of the mysterious monument, will never come.
