Kabul – After the US troops arrived in Afghanistan in 2001, the Taliban regime ‘dug up’ the car used by Taliban founder Mullah Omar to escape from there. Last day, the Taliban regime recovered the vehicle that was buried without the sight of the US army. It is reported that the vehicle has not suffered any major damage even though it has been underground for more than two decades.
Mullah Omar’s white Toyota Corolla was wrapped in plastic and buried in a village in Zabul province. The vehicle was hidden by Taliban leader Abdul Jabbar Omari. He himself also gave instructions to dig up the vehicle.
“The vehicle still has no damage. “It’s only slightly damaged at the front,” AFP reported, quoting officials in the province of Zabul.
The Taliban’s explanation is that it was buried without informing anyone to prevent the US forces from seizing Mullah Omar’s vehicle. The Taliban has released footage of the vehicle being dug up. The Taliban move to display Mullah Omar’s vehicle in the National Museum in Kabul as a historical monument.
Mullah Omar was the man who ruled Afghanistan as the head of the Taliban from 1996 to 2001. Omar was born in 1960 in Chai Himmat village in Khakres district of Kandahar province. Although there were many different rumors regarding the death of Mullah Omar at various times, the Taliban confirmed his death in April 2013 in July of the following year.
