It’s only a short downhill and then wavy – but in the short descent Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain) is doomed in a curve, the Colombian falls painfully here. However, Mikel Landa’s team-mate can continue.

The field is now taking it a little easier, the gap is growing to over four minutes. For the top, it’s now up to the ascent, it’s climbing! The distance between the breakaways and the field now increases to three minutes, after the action-packed start phase it is now a little quieter. The Grupetto managed to catch up with the peloton, the weather is now overcast again and slightly rainy in this section of the route. Directly after the start in Ponte di Legno, it goes eight kilometers up to the Passo del Tonale, which, mysteriously, has not been given a mountain classification by the organizers. The following 70 kilometers are downhill before the climb to Giovo (category 3: 5.9 kilometers; 6.8%) heralds a bumpy section halfway through the stage. After 121 kilometers the first sprint will take place in Pergine Valsugana. Immediately afterwards it goes into the even Passo del Vertirolo (1st category: 11.8 kilometers; 7.7%). The bonus seconds are awarded after 149 kilometers in Caldonazo.
The last climb to Monterovene (1st category: 7.9 kilometers; 9.9%) has a 15% steep ramp 1.5 kilometers before the summit. The first four kilometers after the mountain classification are still slightly uphill, before four kilometers of descent to the finish follow. Lavarone is finally reached after 168 kilometers of racing distance.
