Gran Turismo 7 – Polyphony Digital thinks about PC release

Die Gran Turismo-Series could be the next candidate for a PC release following the thought process of series creator Kazunori Yamauchi. In any case, Polyphony Digital is not completely averse to offering the simulation outside of PlayStation.

A possible PC release of Gran Turismo 7 or other offshoots were discussed at the current Gran Turismo World Finals. According to Yamauchi, the industry has changed significantly in recent years and we’re seeing more and more titles from PlayStation first-party studios on PC. So why shouldn’t that include Gran Turismo?

To God of War and Horizon would be the Grand Touringseries certainly also very successful among PC gamers, although recent releases like Sackboy or Spider-Man were less popular. Yamauchi would have some reservations, however, as to what specifically Grand Touring regards.

PC too complex for Gran Turismo?

Opposite to GTPlanet the creator explained that Grand Touring is a very finely tuned game and there aren’t many platforms that would run the game in native 4K at 60fps. That’s why the platforms were so limited.

“It’s definitely not a very easy topic, but we’re obviously looking at it and considering it,” Yamauchi said of a possible PC release.

The fact that there could be a lack of performance on the PC platform would probably only be an excuse not to publish the series there. After all, the PS4 is no longer the youngest platform. Rather, the many different configurations could become a problem in order to maintain the quality standard of Grand Touring present appropriately everywhere.

At least it would have Grand Touring A bit heavier on PC to stand out from the crowd as there are already a variety of top-notch simulations out there. After a good 25 years would be Grand Touring for the PC, however, a real premiere for the series, which is really only available for PlayStation so far.

When and if that will ever happen is still completely open at the moment.
