Parallel Recovery and Water Conservation Progress on the South Rim

While the North Rim addresses fire recovery, current flood recovery efforts on the South Rim remain a separate administrative issue, according to park officials. Both the Grand Canyon’s North and South Rims remain open to the public, though both areas have been severely affected by fires and recent natural disasters.

Meanwhile, Grand Canyon National Park continues to ease water conservation measures on the South Rim as water supply levels improve, nps.gov reported. Water spigots in Mather and Desert View Campgrounds have been turned back on, and camper services operated by Delaware North reopened to the public on Friday, August 21.

These updates reflect continued progress in restoring visitor services, and the park appreciates the cooperation of visitors and the community as recovery efforts continue, nps.gov reported. The public involvement period for the North Rim recovery plan stays open through Nov. 6, with the first scheduled meeting taking place next week.
