The city of Resistencia, province of Chaco, was the scene of an episode of insecurity followed by a death. A young man entered his neighbor’s house to steal gas bottles, was surprised and died from a shot fired by the owner of the house, judicial and police sources indicated.
It happened this Friday, around 11:30 in the Gobernador Bosch passageway at 800. There, a 60-year-old man was apprehended after opening fire on a thief and causing his death. Prosecutor Ingrid Wenner is in charge of the case for “alleged homicide”.
The situation became known after the personnel of the 5th Resistance Police Station were alerted by the presence of a young man wounded with a firearm.
Upon arriving at the scene, the agents found a 60-year-old man, who told them that the young man had entered his home to steal two gas bottles.
A police doctor verified the death of the subject, who lived in an adjoining house and had forced a back door to enter the property.
He had taken a gas bottle and, when he returned to the place to steal another, he was surprised by the owner, who arrived alerted by the noises. At that moment, the man opened fire, firing three shots. One of them hit the thief’s body head-on.
The young man tried to escape wounded, however he fell lying in the courtyard. The person who fired argued that he thought he saw that the subject was carrying something in his hand, that is why he fired.
Prosecutor Wenner arrived at the house together with her team from the Scientific Cabinet of the Judiciary for the expertise and subsequent transfer of the body to the Institute of Medicine and Forensic Sciences for the corresponding autopsy.
In addition, a firearm and items of interest in the cause were seized from the place.
The investigators tried to establish if the event occurred within the framework of a legitimate defense or if, at least, there was an excess in the actions. In this context, the man will be investigated next Monday by prosecutor Wenner.
