The coach of the French men’s handball team Guilllaume Gille called Nantais Théo Monar as reinforcement for the Trophée des Continents, due to the uncertainty which hangs over Nicolas Tournat, injured in the ankle.
There are 24 and not 23 to meet at the Maison du Handball in Créteil this Monday. Two months after winning the title of European champion, the French men’s handball team will play two matches this week as part of the Trophée des Continents, this competition which will bring together in Montpellier, the champions of Europe, Africa (Egypt), Asia (Japan) and Pan-American (Argentina). The Blues will face Argentina on Thursday at 9:10 p.m. and Egypt on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. The coach decided this Monday to call in reinforcements from Théo Monar. The 22-year-old Nantes pivot could compensate for the absence of Nicolas Tournat, injured in the ankle with his club Kielce and uncertain for these two matches.

Théo Monar has 11 caps for the French team (the first in May 2021), for 26 goals scored. He was not part of the group crowned European champions in Germany in January, but he embodies the future in this position, even if France is not without pivots, with Ludovic Fabregas, Luka Karabatic and Karl Konan. Nikola Karabatic, injured in the neck with PSG against Chambéry this Saturday, is still in the France group as well.
