Viagra saves Monica Almeida’s life
72 hours make the difference between life and death in the case of Monica Almeida and her state of health. Because: 72 hours later and the ventilators of the 37-year-olds would have been turned off. Monica Almeida from Gainsborough, a small town in Great Britain, works as a nurse herself. It is thanks to a colleague and the doctors that she was able to spend Christmas with her family.
In October, the 37-year-old tested positive for the corona virus and lost her sense of taste and smell. Coughs as early as the fourth day of her diagnosis the mother of two even blood. Because of their gloomy prognosis, the doctors decide to act immediately and opt for a rather unusual method of treatment: They give Monica Almeida Viagra tablets, which men actually take when they want to help out a bit. But it helps! “Within 48 hours, my airways opened and my lungs started to react. Considering the drug dilates the blood vessels … that ultimately helped. I have asthma and my air sacs probably needed a little help,” she explains 37-year-old told the British newspaper.
But wait a minute, does that work? Scientists are currently testing whether Viagra is not considered as a possible means of treating Covid patients. The little pills widen the blood vessels and open the airways. It works for Monica Almeida: the amount of oxygen the mother of two needs is ultimately halved and her condition improves after just one week. On December 14th, she officially woke up from the coma and celebrated Christmas in her home with her family. She is currently recovering there with her husband Artur and their two sons aged nine and 14.
But Monica Almeida has an important appeal.

The reason: the medics told her that she had died, if she hadn’t been vaccinated. “There are people who say the vaccine killed people. I’m not denying that there are people who react to the vaccine and get sick, but when we look at the death toll among people who have not been vaccinated, that’s an important message to get vaccinated, “says Monica Almeida.
She herself never expected that she would get so sick when she was only 37: “I never thought that this would happen to me one day. That’s why I want people to take the vaccination more seriously.” (vdu)
