ILKI Appoints Central Management Board for 2025-2029 Term

Indonesia’s health research consortium, ILKI, has officially appointed its central management board for the 2025-2029 term, placing the nation's diagnostic infrastructure at the center of its national health transformation strategy.

The appointment was conducted by Maria Endang Sumiwe, MPH, Director of Primary and Community Health at the Indonesian Ministry of Health. The event, held at Prodia Tower in Jakarta, served as a driving force for ILKI to contribute to enhancing the quality of health laboratory services and accelerating national health transformation. According to her, health laboratories play a role beyond being medical support facilities. The laboratory is an important part of the diagnostic system and at the forefront of early warning for public health.

Strategic Focus for the New Term

Purwanto, Sp.PK, Subsp. N.R (K), is tasked with guiding and enhancing the capabilities of its members. This includes supporting laboratory establishment, implementing certifications, providing laboratory management consulting, and conducting training for internal and quality improvement applications. Dr. Purwanto emphasized that the new management aims to be a place that can accommodate and advocate for the aspirations of its members, and it is expected to actively engage with the government, society, and other organizations with similar goals and fields.

Government’s Three Wishes for ILKI

The Ministry of Health has also conveyed three wishes to the newly appointed ILKI central board. First, to strengthen synergy and standardization of service quality by developing member laboratories to meet quality standards, patient safety, and certification conditions. Second, to encourage technological innovation and integration, including the interoperability of medical laboratory data with the SATUSEHAT national health digital platform, to help integrate accurate and real-time Indonesian health data. Third, to strengthen the laboratory network through collaboration with the government to enhance laboratory capabilities at primary, community, and advanced service levels, enabling earlier disease detection and broader community reach.

Dr. Purwanto Outlines Strategies for Next Four Years

Looking ahead, Dr. Purwanto has outlined several strategies for the next four years, including building a visionary management team, developing ILKI branches across Indonesia's diverse regions, empowering stakeholders and members, and maintaining and enhancing the management capabilities of clinical laboratory managers. ILKI also aims to strengthen its position as an association and as a nurturing place for health laboratories, connecting the interests of members from industry and medical sectors, the government, and various stakeholders. The organization will emphasize collaboration and innovation, striving to host Continuous Professional Development (CPD) to build a high-quality, integrated, technologically adaptive, and public health service-responsive medical laboratory ecosystem in Indonesia.
