Monica Almeida, a 37-year-old nurse, had to be placed in a coma after contracting a severe form of the coronavirus. But what is very surprising about this story is that she was saved by… Viagra!
Doubly vaccinated, the nurse caught Covid-19 in early November 2021. Her husband Artur and their two sons aged 9 and 14 also fell ill. But about a week later, Monica’s condition deteriorated. The doctors therefore had to put her in a coma. Her family, who live in Portugal, have been warned that they may not survive, we read in the columns of the Mirror. “They were told that my respirator could be turned off within 72 hours,” says the mother.
Before she was placed in a coma, Monica signed a document stating that she agreed to participate in a study to test new treatments for the coronavirus. And she obviously did well, since the doctors treated her… with Viagra!
When she woke up from the coma and the doctors told her how they had treated her, she couldn’t believe it: “I thought it was a joke from the doctor, because I knew him”, testifies the thirty-something. But it was not ! Viagra helped the airways reopen. “It was definitely Viagra that saved me,” adds Monica. “Within 48 hours, my lungs started to respond. The drug dilates the blood vessels, ”she adds.
“When the doctor told me about this, I really thought he was joking, but he said, ‘No really, you took a big dose of Viagra.’ It was my little Christmas miracle, ”concludes the mother, now healed.
