Index – Domestic – A complaint was received by the prosecutor’s office after the hearing of Péter Magyar

As we previously reported, Péter Magyar was summoned by the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office on Wednesday morning because of his two Facebook posts. The ex-husband of former Minister of Justice Judit Varga claims that he can prove with audio recordings that “Antal Rogán’s people reached into the investigative documents of the Völner-Schadl case”.

Péter Magyar also said that he did not take the evidence with him at the time because he did not know in which case the authority would listen to him, but according to his claim, he will hand it over to the prosecutors next week.

A HVG to his request, the Central Investigative Prosecutor General’s Office announced that a petition was received based on Péter Magyar’s statements following Wednesday’s testimony, dealing with the suspicion of false accusation.

At the same time, the prosecutor’s office has not yet decided whether to launch an investigation into the case, as it is still being evaluated by the prosecutor’s office according to its content.

Judit Varga’s ex-husband made three statements at the hearing, some of which were already known from earlier:

  • Antal György Rogán Schadl was the head of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office.
  • Even before the suspicion and detention, the government knew that criminal proceedings and secret surveillance were taking place, and Pál Völner was also informed of this.
  • Antal Rogán and/or Antal Rogán’s people entered the prosecutor’s office and manipulated, rewrote, and copied the prosecutor’s documents.
  • The lawyer György Schadl and the faction leader of Fidesz also reacted to the allegations

On Thursday, Péter Magyar’s lawyer, Péter Bárándy, stated: Judit Varga’s ex-husband revealed many assumptions, but also presented three facts. The first of these is that a person working in the government or close to him (he named who) deleted the data compromising him from the criminal case files.

ACCORDING TO THE LAWYER, PÉTER MAGYAR DIDN’T CLAIM THAT OF THE PROSECUTOR.

Péter Bárándy added that the witness hearing had a balanced atmosphere in accordance with the criminal procedure law, nothing happened that could be objectionable.

It is Péter Bárándy RTLtold: if Péter Magyar decides, he can make the audio recordings public.

“It is conceivable that the use of such a device might be a violation of personal rights. Here, the user must decide whether it is politically more valuable for him to commit a milder violation of the law, or not to undertake it,” concluded Péter Magyar’s lawyer.

Péter Bárándy reminded that the recordings can be used even if the actors did not know that a recording was being made. “There is free use of evidence.”

rtl.hu contacted György Schadl about the case and asked him what he thought about Péter Magyar’s claims. The former president of the Hungarian Judicial Executive Faculty summed up his answer:

I have nothing to say about the rampage of a person unknown to me

    – declared György Schadl, whose lawyer, Attila Morvai, also added that no signs of evidence manipulation were found in the case.

The prosecutor’s office also responded to Péter Magyar’s allegations, as they wrote: “The Prosecutor’s Office of Hungary considers it an impossible claim that he withheld evidence in the named case, or that anyone would have destroyed the evidence in the prosecutor’s office.”

Zoltán Kovács, the state secretary responsible for international communications, spoke on Hír TV Napi on Wednesday about the fact that Péter Magyar “was abandoned by his wife and lost his government assignments”, and this “apparently pushes him to seek revenge”. The state secretary sees that the former head of the Student Loan Center is doing this in a “left-wing environment”, “you have to look at his legal assistants” and who echoes his statements.

The politician also drew attention to the fact that Antal Rogán, the head of the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office, made it obvious months ago in the parliament, when asked by the opposition representative András Jámbor: he never met the former head of the executive branch, György Schadl, nor did he speak to him.

According to Zoltán Kovács, Péter Magyar

claims impossibility, tries to build a political career based on rumors. Reality will measure his actions and statements, so I think that this cannot be done in the long term without consequences.

According to Máté Kocsis, the parliamentary faction leader of Fidesz, Péter Magyar “wants revenge, he blames the government and its members for the fact that his wife left him and he lost the jobs that his wife acquired”.

He blames the government and some of its members for what happened, that’s why he makes accusations, but what he does is ultimately just empty chatter, nothing more than the mutterings of an aggrieved person

    – said the leader of the Fidesz faction to atv.hu.

Balázs Orbán, the prime minister’s political director, stated that Péter Magyar should not take revenge on politicians. He also stated that, in his opinion, Péter Magyar is making baseless accusations without any evidence, and that his entire performance is nothing more than a media heck.

Péter Magyar, who got into an argument with Balázs Orbán in the comments section, also appeared under our related article shared on Index’s Facebook page.
