According to the United Nations (UN report), India will surpass China in 2023 to become the most populous country in the world. The report also points out that the world’s population will reach eight billion by mid-November 2022. Global population is growing at slowest rate since 1950. According to the report, India’s population will be 141 crores in 2022. 142 crores in China. India will overtake China as the world’s most populous country by 2023 and have 1.6 billion people by 2050. China’s population will decrease to 131 crore at this time. In 2080, the population will cross about one thousand crore.

According to the report, the population figures will continue at the same level until 2100. The two most populous regions in the world in 2022 are East Asia and South-East Asia, home to 2.3 billion people. This is 29 percent of the global population.

Central and South Asia has a population of 2.1 billion. This is 26 percent of the total world population. In these regions, India and China have reported the highest population. The UN report also points out that eight countries, namely the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Tanzania, will report an increase in population until 2050.
