The Board of Directors of Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has decided to award the contract for the delivery of an electronic fare management system (Automated Fare Collection System 2.0) to INIT Innovations in Transportation, Inc., a wholly owned US subsidiary of init innovation in traffic systems SE.

MARTA is the leading public transportation provider in the Atlanta metropolitan area, operating an extensive network of bus and rail service throughout the region. Atlanta is the ninth largest metropolitan area in the United States.

After successful completion of the contract negotiations, it is expected that the contract will be signed at the end of 2023 / beginning of 2024. The agency is considering a contract value of over USD 100 million for the design phase, installation and implementation of the AFC System 2.0. In addition, the total contract value can double if additional options for operation and maintenance are concluded over 10 years.
