Institute for Natural Health Protection 3 tips to take better care of your mouth

Dear friend, dear friend,

If you were ever to walk into the office of Bénédicte Van Craynest, nutritionist, she would immediately think that a unique and exceptional person had just passed through her door. [1]

She knows very well that you are not like the person who left before you nor like the one who will succeed you.

You have your own microbiota.

You have a digestive identity that no one else has.

Appropriate follow-up is therefore necessary.

And that is the challenge of the support that today’s nutritionists try to offer their patients.

But there are still universal rules.

They apply to the previous, to yourself and to the next.

One of them is that to be healthy, your mouth must be healthy.

Viruses in the mouth!

When you come to a nutritionist trained in integrative medicine like Bénédicte Van Craynest, you know that the examination of the mouth is a key point of the consultation.

Bénédicte, or the nutritionist who follows you, observes your mouth using a Wood lamp. It diffuses an ultraviolet light which allows the therapist to detect the presence of viruses in your mouth.

It is not uncommon for the oral flora of some patients to contain pathogenic viruses such as cold sores or the Epstein-Barr virus which cause gingivitis.

It is possible to follow a treatment to try to dislodge these unwanted intruders.

Some therapists advise, for example, to consume certain antiviral mushrooms such as Le Ganoderma lucidum. [2]

You too can take special care of your mouth.

Here are three ideas to help you do just that.

1/ Choose your toothpaste well

When it comes to toothpaste, three things matter:

  • you need the most natural toothpaste possible;

  • sugar-free: absolutely avoid xylitol and other -ol products; also avoid honey toothpaste;

  • that it has natural antiseptic and antibacterial properties, which will be the case if your toothpaste contains essential oils of lemon or rosemary, for example.

2/ Have a glass of lemon water in the morning

Squeeze an organic lemon into a glass. Add a little water. It can be lukewarm water.

And do this little ritual every morning.

Lemon helps you clean your mouth and digestive tract. It helps the stomach to work better.

Although lemon is acidic, it helps your body maintain a good pH balance.

In addition, it brings you vitamin C in the morning!

The day starts well.

3/ Practice a mouthwash every week

The objective of this operation is to help you to alkalize your oral pH which is often too acidic.

Dilute in a glass, a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide and a tablespoon of water.

On a cup, pour a little baking soda.

Rinse your mouth with 10 ml of diluted water and hydrogen peroxide then spit (into the sink!).

Dampen your toothbrush and dab it in the baking soda.

Brush your teeth well. Then brush your tongue gently.

Clean your tongue with a small spoon or copper tongue scraper (avoid plastic).

Rinse your mouth with the water and hydrogen peroxide solution and let it act for two minutes.

Spit.
