Institutional appetite for India’s digital and telecommunications infrastructure reached a milestone on Monday, October 19, 2026, as the anchor book for Jio Platforms Ltd.’s initial public offering drew over ₹2.5 trillion in bids. The ₹8,110 crore anchor allocation was oversubscribed by more than 30 times. The offering opens for public subscription on October 21 and closes on October 23, with the company aiming to raise ₹30,213 crore at the upper end of its price band.
Global Heavyweights and Domestic Core Drive Historic Allocation
Jio Platforms finalized the allocation of 72.4 million shares to anchor investors at ₹1,119 per share. Life Insurance Corporation of India participated in the domestic allocations. Capital Group secured an allocation, while the Government of Singapore acquired an allocation.
Fidelity Contra Fund, recognized as the largest active global mutual fund, received a 2.39 percent allocation. The anchor book also captured interest from major Indian family offices, including HCL, Premji, and Zerodha’s Rainmatter Investments. Prominent global asset managers—including BlackRock, Capital Group, Fidelity, alongside T. Rowe Price, Schroders, JPMorgan Asset Management, Franklin Templeton, Invesco, and Janus Henderson—joined forces with sovereign funds such as Singapore’s GIC, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, the Qatar Investment Authority, and Norway’s Norges Bank Investment Management.
Abu Dhabi Investment Authority Enters via Open Market
Among sovereign wealth funds, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority stood out as the sole exception among existing investors seeking additional exposure through the open market. ADIA previously acquired a 1.16 percent stake in JPL through a private placement in July 2020 via its subsidiary Platinum Jasmine A 2018 Trust. For the current offering, two ADIA-managed entities, ADIA Monsoon and ADIA Stable, were collectively allocated a 2.96 percent stake totaling ₹239 crore, according to allotment details.

Shares valued at ₹200 crore apiece went to Nippon MF, Kotak MF, and Ninety-One Global, whereas a select group of asset management funds received ₹182 crore—accounting for 2.25 per cent—courtesy of JP Morgan.
Market Valuation and Strategic Positioning
At the upper end of the price band, Jio Platforms is valued at approximately ₹10.3 trillion. Reliance Industries, India’s most valuable company with a market capitalization of ₹16.28 trillion, retains a 66.43 percent stake in JPL following the offering. In 2020, strategic investors including Meta, Google, KKR, Silver Lake, and General Atlantic collectively invested $20 billion for a 30.89 percent aggregate holding.

Analysts note that the heavy institutional demand reflects expectations of forthcoming inclusion in major global indices such as MSCI, FTSE, and the Nifty, driven by the company’s sheer scale. Jio Platforms houses Reliance Jio Infocomm, India’s largest telecom services provider with over 533 million subscribers. The main public issue opens on October 21.
