Although the built-in Defender antivirus software in Microsoft Windows provides adequate protection against viruses and malware, there is a better way to protect against cyberattacks, and that is to rely on free antivirus software.
The German Goods and Products Testing Authority came to this conclusion after testing 20 of them.
Kaspersky Security Cloud Free is the best free software, along with three free antivirus programs that have a “good” rating: Avast Free Antivirus, AVG Antivirus Free, and Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition.
Although Microsoft Windows Defender turned out to be the worst program in the test with an “acceptable” rating, it provides adequate protection against viruses and malware, and German experts confirmed that it is not a bad antivirus program.
