The Haylou Watch R8 is a sports watch, so it’s not as thin and compact as most smartwatches I’ve tested here. It closely resembles the design of G-SHOCK watches, with protective armor on the front, designed specifically to protect the screen from bumps, falls and other accidents. It has a circular shape with thick edges around the screen, which is also of very high quality.

On the side, it has a three buttons which are used to activate or turn off the screen (if the wrist movement option is deactivated), quickly open the sports menu and a rotating crown which is used to navigate between the system menus or change the displays on the home page. Call menu: feature that allows you to access the phone book, the last calls log and the number keypad to make a new call. It is worth remembering that to do this, the watch must be paired with the cell phone via Bluetooth.
Sport: the correct translation would be “sports”, but this is where you access the supported exercise options. Among the options, we have running, treadmill, walking, cycling, climbing, basketball, badminton, football and yoga, as well as customized training.
Heart rate: Here you can track your heartbeat.
Effort: Here you access the graph of your latest activities, as if it were a history.
Blood pressure: It is also possible to measure blood pressure, which is an interesting feature, of course, but one that I was unable to use.
Blood oxygen: Here you can monitor your blood saturation level.
Voice: It is possible to synchronize the watch with a virtual assistant on your smartphone and activate it directly from the watch.

Most of the brand’s watches work with the Haylou Fun app, which is very good and I’m already quite used to it, but I was happy to see that there is a dedicated app for high-end watches — a special treat on Haylou’s part.

From the app, it is then possible to change the watch’s language, configure the screen display time, choose which notifications will be transmitted to the watch, activate the sedentary warning, monitor the data collected by the sensors, battery level of the clock and much more.
The Haylou Watch R8 — like several other watches from the brand — has many dial options available. Some cute, some beautiful, some childish and others with no chance of being used at all. The watch comes from the factory with 10 dials in memory and another hit on the app, which is simply sensational.

The battery of the Haylou Watch R8 has 300 mAh which, according to the manufacturer, is capable of lasting approximately 7 days with heart rate monitoring activated 24 hours per day. Battery life is a very important fact for me, after all, who likes having to recharge the battery every day?! If you worry about this too, know that you can rest assured.
During the tests I carried out, I used the watch quite frantically, with the brightness at 80%, screen activation with wrist movement activated during the day, medium vibration level and heart rate monitoring activated. Even so, I was able to enjoy the watch for 6 full days and approximately 4h30. As a result, it didn’t last the seven days that the company promises, but it’s enough to make it through the year. Approved!

The first major positive point I would like to highlight about the Haylou Watch R8 is its body. In addition to having a perfect resolution, where everything fits with maximum precision, the colors are vivid and sharp, even if you prefer to set it to a lower brightness level. Speaking of which, even in the sun, you can easily see what’s on the screen. It’s also worth talking about the right touch sensitivity — not too much and not too little. And one more detail: it has the function Always on Displaywhich leaves the screen always showing the time.
For my type of use, another thing I loved about the Watch R8 is the number of items to customization. There are many dial options, a very complete and functional application, as well as a large number of native functions of the watch and also of your device. application. Speaking of extra functions, the watch has the option of setting a password, ensuring security and privacy. If enabled, every time you try to enter the menu, you will be asked for the password.
Finally, one thing that really bothered me about other Haylou watches was the bracelet that comes with the device. Turns out it was too short or had a loop built into the bracelet itself that limited access for those with wider arms, like me. That’s not the case with the Watch R8. As it is a sports model, Haylou inserted a pulseira grossaresistant and that matches perfectly with the watch itself.

As not everything is rosy, the Haylou Watch R8 also has some negative factors. For example, I felt lack of a GPS, perhaps the main feature that would make it compete head to head with other major players on the market, such as the Galaxy Watch, Huawei Watch GT and Apple Watch. Without this feature, if you want to carry out any physical activity outdoors, such as running or walking, you will always need to take your cell phone with you to monitor routes, distance traveled and average speed.
The second problem that bothered me is related to the translation resources for Brazilian Portuguese. Like many Chinese watches, the Haylou Watch R8 is not as precise in describing functions in our language. For example, the “Sports” function should be called “Sports”, and this could confuse a lot of people who are not reading this review.
